How to Create an Assembly with a Virtual Object (VO)

  1. Launch “HyperSkillDesktop.exe”

  2. Select a VO from the manager page

  1. Here is the Assembly Builder. A detailed explanation of controls and interface functions are described in the section User Interface Reference.

  1. To add a step, click on the Plus  button. There are 3 types of steps:

    1. Mechanical: The mechanical step indicates which 2 parts must be attached together. In the VR application, the two parts will be highlighted. 

      1. Fill in the Title and Instructions fields.

  1. Select the “Part to attach” and the “Part to attach to” from the dropdown or click the Pencil  button and select from the 3d model directly.

  1. Click the Camera  button to “upload” an image or take a “snapshot”


  1. Snapshot: The snapshot step presents the trainee an assembled state of the subassembly. It is represented by the time of the exploded view. 

    1. Fill in the Title and Instructions fields.

  1. Click into the Time field and type in a time within the assembly timeline. You can use the up/down  arrows to change the time as well.

  1. Wiring: The wiring step shows how a wire should be connected between parts. It is represented by a start point, a set of intermediate points in space, and an endpoint.

    1. Fill in the Title and Instructions fields.

  1. Select the “Wire start point” and the “Wire end point” from the dropdown or click the Pencil  button and select from the 3d model directly.

  1. You can also add intermediate points. Just click on the plus  button.

  2. Then add values to the X, Y and Z coordinates fields.

  1. When you’re done adding steps, click on the Save  button.

  2. To exit/close the VO edit page, click on the Close  button next to the Save button.
